Localization runs on a conviction that every language, and every person behind it, deserves to be understood. It’s why a translator will argue over a single word for an hour, and why we build software that keeps that person in charge of the argument. Until now, that conviction lived in how we work. Today it also lives on paper. wxrks has joined the United Nations Global Compact, alongside more than 20,000 companies in over 160 countries that have signed the same commitment.
The Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world. Since 2000, it has asked companies to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles covering human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to act in support of the Sustainable Development Goals. It is voluntary to join, but not casual to keep. Participation means telling the world each year, in public, how you’re living up to what you signed.

Why this fits how we work
People stay in charge. The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact begin with human rights. Our product begins with human authors. We build software that automates drudgery and amplifies human authorship. Signing the Principles turns that stance into a public commitment.
Language is access. When content crosses a border, rights, safety information, contracts and opportunity cross with it. An industry that moves meaning between people carries responsibility for getting it right. We accept that responsibility in writing.
Transparency builds trust. Each year we will publish a Communication on Progress, a public report on how we uphold the Principles. Anyone can read it and hold us to it.

“We build software that keeps humans in charge of how meaning travels between languages. The Global Compact holds us to that same standard as a company. We signed because we want to be held to it,” said Gabriel Fairman, CEO of wxrks.
You can follow our commitments and progress on our participant profile on the UN Global Compact website.
We help people understand each other across borders. Now we answer for how we do it.
